(a) Circulation Services: Circulation service of a library basically includes check-outs and check-ins of library resources and items, collection of fines and other charges, renewal and holding of the materials. At the circulation desks patrons may avail the following services:
Register for library membership.
Issue and return of library items.
Get a password to check the circulation status of the item.
Update library patron records (new address, telephone numbers, etc.).
Renew the issued item.
Reserve the items for three days.(b) NLUJAA Digital Repository: National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam has signed the terms of reference of National Digital Library of India (NDLI), project of MHRD’s National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) to develop a Digital Repository of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam. The NLUJAA Digital Repository aims to facilitate e-learning environment by providing access to thesis, dissertation, courseware and many audio-visual lectures etc. And it is available at http://www.dlnluassam.ndl.iitkgp.ac.in
(c) Remote Access Service: Remote Access is a service to provide access to the licensed electronic resources to the university members while away from the campus. With the use of VPN connectivity, the e-resources and databases can be browsed via internet irrespective of the physical location and the browser variety. VPN connection securely collates all of the data traffic from the user’s computer through the University network. The VPN Connectivity is implemented and maintained by NLUJAA IT Centre.
(d) OPAC and Web OPAC: An OPAC kiosks are placed each floor of the NLUJAA library letting users interact, search and browse the library resources. The kiosk is the impeccable & instant service device with touch monitor for ease of use. NLUJAA Library Web OPAC available at http://14.139.213.149 and http://opac.nluassam.ac.in. Web OPAC is a platform to search and locate the information on available resources in the library or in other words it is the computerized form of library card catalogue. With the help of OPAC users can easily trace the status of an item whether it’s on loan, available, lost, damaged or missing. The Web OPAC can be searched by Title, Author, Subject, ISBN, ISSN, Series and Call Number.
(e) Scanning Service: The library, as a part of the ongoing process of digitization purchased a BookEye 4 Scanner and it uses the Bookeye 4 overhead scanner to preserve the previous question paper, fragile rare books and other teaching-learning materials. The scanner is of Flat A2 Size with 400 dpi resolution and digital colour balance.
(f) Binding Service: There are two SureBind Systems 2 Strip Binders in the NLUJAA Library with frequent requirements for secure binding. It is fully electronic with a punch taking up to 22 80gsm sheets, a binder with the flexibility to bind up to 500 sheet paper and even a jam prevention feature. Secure binding is achieved by welding 2 strips together to create a permanent spine. By using these machine, the university library provides binding facilities to the users for official purposes on special request.
(g) Similarity Checking Service: The NLUJAA Library has been subscribing Turnitin and Urkund anti-plagiarism software. The library provides the similarity check services (plagiarism) for the articles, dissertations, thesis by its students, research scholars and faculty members. The Library issues similarity check certificate to the LL.M students before submission of their dissertations.
(h) Kindle Paperwhite: To encourage and support recreational reading, 3 units of Kindle Paper white e-Readers are pre-loaded with thousands of free e-books. The e-book readers can be checked out overnight by the NLUJAA faculty and LLM students. E books can be selected for reading under NLUJAA collection account.
(i) Wi-Fi Service: NLUJAA Library is fully wi-fi enabled providing the users high quality unrestricted access to electronic resources.
(j) Reference and Information Services: The library strives to provide users with complete, accurate answers to information queries regardless of the complexity of those queries and to assist them in their search for information and knowledge. Dedicated reference assistance is provided to NLUJAA teachers and students on request. The reference and information service encompasses the followings-
Instruction and help in using library and its resources;
Research assistance to teacher (eg. searching literature, retrieving qualitative materials and such others);
Assistance in using library OPAC search facilities.(k) Current Awarness Services (CAS): A current awareness service is meant to keep the patrons up-to-date with the most recent happenings and development in the NLUJAA library. NLUJAA library provides Current Awarness Services (CAS) in varrious forms to its users. Users may subscribe to any combinations of CAS from the options of Subscribe to the RSS feeds of the Library, Email Alert from Library, Email Alert for New Arrivals, or follow us in Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp.
(l) Selective Dissemination and Information Service (SDI): The NLUJAA Library provide the SDI service on request and these are encompasses around article alert, old examination questions papers and such others.
(m) Ask a Librarian Service: A dedicated online reference assistance is provided to NLUJAA teachers and students on request through Ask a Librarian service and it is integrated into the bottom right corner of this website and NLUJAA Web OPAC available at http://opac.nluassam.ac.in
